    Default WB Southeastern Meetup

Disclaimer: I have never done this, but am ready to give it a try.
Who would be excited about a weekend trip in the fall? I am thinking more of a base camp/ easy walk in site location with some day hiking opportunities for Saturday or if the group that forms would prefer to do an A to B trip I would be excited for that as well, as long as everyone can agree on an acceptable mileage that everyone can complete....This is not a Gambit trip I am extending an offer fore, this is a whiteblaze trip that Gambit is willing to initiate/ facilitate planning for lol
Where: GSMNP? BMT? Grayson or Roan Highlands? I think it would behoove us to see who all would like to go, and pick a centrally located location.
When: After the first frost of the year; Late October, early November.

If this is successful I would like to make a tradition out of it. If no interest, go take a hike and stump your toe

Maybe but can't make any firm plans to attend. There's some titanium I'll need to get before then.

I’m up for it. Especially if Roan highlands is destination which are basically next section for me heading NOBO (finishing at Sam’s gap mile 320 in a cpl wks). I have no experience hiking in that cold of a climate nor that time of year so it would be a very fresh new adventure for me and an excuse to buy a better quilt.

Typical pace: 15 to 20 miles per day, and very comfortable doing less, not sure I am capable of more.
typical time of day:: 8:30am start, 6pm finish
typical stops to go #1: Like… a thousand times a day

PS I would also do other areas, but Roan highlands would excite me the most

I have some mild interest, depending on where/when/etc. You're smart to plan a trip specifically for the southeast region. We could possibly do Grayson or Roan, but don't really have an interest in a trip north.
GSMNP has become pretty difficult for a group, what with all the parking restrictions and campsite reservations.

Stump my toe? No thanks, I do that often enough without doing it on purpose!

I could be up for it. I have a family trip somewhere in there, but if I’m free I’m game.

Somehow I missed this thread the first time... but yes that sounds awesome Gambit!

I told my son (age 10) that we might try to do a short AT trip together this fall and this sounds like a good fit.

I think either Grayson or Roan Highlands are great suggestions.

My vote is for Columbus Day weekend. Grayson and Roan can get pretty cold in late October.

Any chance of bringing back RUCK? I was a really good weekend with your fellow hikers? What do you think?
