    Default Massie Gap Parking

Hey all. I have a friend joining me for a short hike from Damascus & he needs to get off around Massie Gap. Do you know, can he park there Long Term?, meaning 5 days max? Is it allowable? Is it safe? And if not, is it possible to use the other lot near the trail head? Thank you.

it's $20 per night at the overnight lot by reservation. $7 and $10 for day parking. I could shuttle him but I don't do pick ups at the end of folks hike.

Sorry to be such a dolt on this, but I’m still unclear on what’s what. Per Guthook. There is the obvious big lot at Massie Gap. Someone posted that no overnight parking is allowed. Then they mentioned a lot about 2 miles away at the Chestnut Hollow Campgrounds, but no info on parking or cost. Finally, they show a second lot for long term backpackers via the Appalachian Spur Trail (not far from Massie Gap) stating the cost is $20/1st night, $15 each additional night, which seems rather prohibitive. I’m just hoping there is something easy and not overly expensive.

I appreciate your comments on this.

I just did a bit of checking and found a traditional trail crossing parking lot at Rt. 603 ( mile 511.9), which would be an ideal stopping spot for my buddy. All I need now is to get him a shuttle from 603 into Damascus ( our starting point), and all would be fine. Does this make sense?
    Thanks.
